Chicago-based psychiatrist Dr. Carl C. Bell presents this collection of articles spanning his twenty-five-year-long career in community psychiatry. His work stresses the importance of providing for Blacks medical and psychiatric assistance that is not only socially and scientifically sound, but also culturally responsive.  Dr. Bell’s approach on mental health and “wellness” in the Black community stems from a platform of prevention.
